The Story of the Original LED Hollow Mask
In this fast-paced society, many women are overwhelmed by various responsibilities. They are the backbone of their families, having to handle household chores, take care of children, and strive for career success. They are constantly busy from morning till night, leaving no time for themselves.
In the workplace, competition for women is particularly fierce. To get promoted, they have to exert double efforts. Working long hours in the office, with one meeting after another, and tight deadlines, this leaves them physically and mentally exhausted.
Over time, the signs of aging gradually become apparent. Wrinkles start to appear on their faces, their skin loses elasticity, and they no longer have the radiance of their youth. These changes can undermine women's self-confidence, making them feel less attractive and less capable than before, and making them more concerned about their appearance.
What if there was a solution to these problems? A way for these hardworking women to take care of their skin at home without spending a lot of money or wasting a lot of time. Creating an LED light therapy mask, simple and effective, could help women gradually regain beauty and confidence.
How should we solve these pain points when making a mask? How to make users like wearing it, and be able to persist in using it to achieve cosmetic effects? With such original thoughts,we began to experiment ,after conducting market research and testing 15 different types of masks,and found that different mask types have different pain points
Plastic mask:
Too heavy and prone to sliding down;
Does not fit all face shapes;
Very stuffy and not breathable;
Easy to leave marks on the face;
The eye shield part leaks light, and prolonged exposure can affect vision.
Silicone mask:
When tied to the face, the LED lights are too close to the skin, resulting in uneven light distribution;
There is a strong sense of pressure around the eyes when worn, which is very uncomfortable;
Strong odor and not breathable;
There is a sense of weight on the bridge of the nose;
The eye shield part leaks light, and prolonged exposure can affect vision.
Discovering these pain points is truly unacceptable, which is why many users buy the product but stop using it after a few times, leaving it to gather dust at home! Focusing on the two most unacceptable pain points of the mask being too heavy and leaving marks on the face and nose bridge, as well as being uncomfortable and not breathable when worn, we adopted a hollowed-out design to reduce its weight when designing the appearance. When we made the first version, the mask area was small and the lines were narrow, making it difficult to lay out the wires. After continuous improvement, we made several more versions. When we were satisfied with the fifth version, we sent it to the mold factory for evaluation. The result was that it could not be molded! We had no choice but to make more changes. To be able to mold it, we started to modify it again, and finally it became what you see now.
The silicone masks on the market usually weigh 200-400g, while our silicone mask only weights 95 grams, which is one-third weight of others on the market.
Due to hollow design, it is very breathable and causes no burden when worn. You won't have to worry about the situation like a certain blogger mentioned, where the mask of a certain brand is too heavy, taking good care of the skin but causing the face to sag, which is not worth it. Most LED beauty masks on the market aren't waterproof, whether they are plastic or silicone masks. To achieve the waterproof function and make it easy for users to clean, we have made great efforts. We injected the lights and circuits into the silicone. We approached over twenty silicone factories, but they all said it was too complicated and had no experience with similar projects and were not confident. Fortunately, we didn't give up and finally found one that was willing to try. Through persistent efforts, we scrapped two sets of molds and spent over half a year to get it done. Now our silicone mask can reach IP67 waterproof level, and the surface of the injected light beads is very smooth, with excellent results! In the industry, the light beads of ordinary silicone masks are protruding. When worn tightly, they press against the face and cause discomfort. This innovative reform is only to provide users with a better experience.
Another issue was the circuit board inside. The line width on the silicone mask was only 3-4mm, and many circuits needed to be laid out. The distance and line width required multiple adjustments. The circuit board was flat and needed to be attached to the curved mask, which was also very challenging. We went through more than ten versions and the process was quite painful. Eventually, we found a solution and overcame the problem.
To address the problem of the strong odor of ordinary silicone, we adopted liquid silicone without considering the cost. The mold-making fee alone for liquid silicone was as high as 40000 USD, while the mold-making fee for ordinary silicone was only about 2000 USD. The characteristic of liquid silicone is that it is colorless, odorless, soft and skin-friendly, and resistant to high temperatures. Food-grade liquid silicone is usually applied in fields with extremely strict quality requirements such as baby tableware, medical care, and beauty. In terms of material selection, we pursue environmental protection and health, and aim to bring a high-quality product for female friends to enjoy a better life. In order to achieve a striking and attractive color, we made many attempts, conducted repeated adjustments and improvements, and finally reached the color we desired. The mold trial was also the same. The first attempts were all failures. It was only through continuous improvement and exploration that we succeeded. Our pursuit of beauty never stops. (This hollow silicone mask has been shortlisted for the Red Dot Award in Germany. The final result is awaited in March 2026. We are looking forward to good news.)
The strap-type silicone face masks available on the market are designed to prevent the heavy mask from sliding down. To do this, the straps are tightened very tightly, resulting in uneven lighting around the eyes and temples. The light bulbs are directly attached to the face, preventing normal light from reaching the face. Wearing the mask causes a sense of pressure around the eyes and discomfort. Moreover, there is light leakage, which shines into the eyes and affects vision. To address these three issues, we put a lot of effort into the eye area. The first version we produced was tested by many women, but they found the experience not satisfied. The mold was directly scrapped, and a second set of eye masks was redeveloped. The second set of eye masks was very successful, as it felt like wearing glasses, without pressure, and the mask was very light. Therefore, the straps only serve a fixing function and do not tighten. The mask floats above the face, allowing the light to evenly illuminate every inch of the face. After six months of production, it became too popular, and the production capacity couldn't keep up. So we developed another set of replication molds. We also made a third set of eye masks again. Regarding the user experience, we have been constantly innovating and making trial errors without considering costs, in order to disrupt the original design, all for the user's words: "This is a good product."
We also paid great attention to the details. For instance, the eye masks we provided are of a fixed type, which is more user-friendly. It makes it easier and quicker for users to use without having to install the eye masks themselves. The silicone masks of eye masks available on the market require users to install them themselves, which can be prone to being installed incorrectly and falling off. Once one eye support is lost, the mask is rendered unusable.
Most of the silicone masks have a very sticky backside that makes it necessary to wipe them for a long time before each use. Our perforated silicone mask has undergone special surface treatment, making it dust-free and cleaner and more hygienic. After washing your face, you can use it directly.
Most silicone masks on the market are connected to a long cable, which is not convenient to store. We use a TYPE-C waterproof socket. The mask, data cable, and remote control can be stored separately, making your makeup table look neater.
